"Medicine as a whole"
My name is Cecilia Spiritelli, I am 29 years old, in a relationship, and have a 6-year-old son. I love writing again on the blog, it reminds me of my teenage years. I am a second-semester student in my first year of studying medicine, it's a dream come true, and even though it's too early to say, I want to specialize in oncology. Why oncology? The million dollar question. In my opinion, oncology is one of the fields where I will encounter more sadness, sick people, exhausted families, and deaths. And yes, there are good things too, like those patients who manage to heal and go into remission and leave happy to their homes. But there are many more who don't make it, and it's not that I enjoy seeing suffering, quite the opposite. Besides being their doctor, I would like to be a companion for their good and bad moments and give those patients a plus of humanity that I saw very few times in other doctors. Will I be able to improve something? Maybe yes, maybe no. But my effo...
